RELEVANT PORTIONS OF MY NEW YEAR RESOLUTION (2016)

1st January, 2016
Having dedicated a chunk of my time in championing the 'student project' over the past years, I have now resolved to make a GRADUATING TRANSITION from student activism and focus more on youth activism and general governance issues and other matters of national concern; political or otherwise. For the record, I am not by this, abandoning my love and passion for the ordinary student; expect that, I am now looking at a much more bigger picture. My education and other exploits in life so far, have thought me a lot especially as a political animal and one, who takes unwavering interest in matters of governance in my country. Unfortunately, my observation reveals that a lot of things are just not adding up as expected and we have very little to pride ourselves with. We all seem to be contend with this mediocre state of affairs whilst we watch our beautiful country sink into abyss yet we sit aloof and in reticence purporting to lack the wherewithal to challenge the status quo and demand for a better service for the general good of our people.
It is in this light and the urgent need for the reversal of this worrying trend that I have resolved now to, more than ever, get into the daily 'bread and butter issues' and occupy same with my PEN with the view to exposing the societal wrongs and RIGHTING same for the love of God and country. This, I shall do with significant recourse to the national interest and clarity of CONSCIENCE. My strong connections and association with the famous OccupyGh have thought me a lot which cannot be exaggerated. I am more than convinced that the OccupyGh model, where positive change is sought by occupying hearts and minds for love of God and country, remains the best approach to redressing the 'Ghanaian problem' without hurting souls. Accordingly, I have resolved to use the prowess of my PEN (manifest mind) to effect positive CHANGE through frequent press statements that would "shake our very foundation" and redirect our orientation towards national growth for God and country. Like my Kete-Krachi brother, Manasseh Azure, you are from today, also going to be thrilled by Iddi Muhayu-deen's folder.
You should know that Nana Akuffo Addo or President Mahama CANNOT build Ghana and make it a better place to live without your active involvements. So, I'm challenging you to step out of your proverbial shelves just like the Dr. Mahamud Bawumia's, the George Andah's, the Kojo Oppong Nkrumah's and the Eric Don Authur's who left their fine disciplines and joined the bandwagon, otherwise known as the political enterprise. When they saw things going wrong, they didn't sit on the fence like some of you to complain, they got involved to challenge the status quo and help to better same. Remember that evil triumphs in society not because of the wrong deeds of the bad ones but because of the loud silence of the good ones in the face of such wrongs and manifest injustices. Whether you are a nurse, teacher, doctor, businessman, engineer, farmer, industrialist, student, journalist etc, at the end of the day, it is the politician that determines how you live your life and takes all the critical decisions that affect your family and business life. So tell me why you shouldn't be concerned.
Obviously things are falling apart in Ghana. The centre can no longer hold. Businesses are collapsing, dumsor is killing us, our future is being mortgaged for loans, youth unemployment is at all-time high with legendary levels of corruption, our lot. Everybody is suffocating by the day yet government seems "clueless and unconcerned". The youth of this country must take their destiny into their own hands and rise up to the occasion. We, the youth of Ghana and Africa must be the DRIVERS of CHANGE and of national growth and development as our compatriots in other jurisdictions do. YES WE CAN and I challenge you to come on-board. Let's do this for our Motherland. Let's do this for posterity and let's do this for the love of God and country.
Perhaps I should conclude by letting you know that I'm writing this on a sickbed but that should not and cannot prevent me from paying my due to my country even as I humbly request for your prayers. Let's do it together for God and country.
Thank you.
