I have heard some attributions made against the
person of Peter Mac Manu, the campaign manager of the NPP who is purported to
have said that his party will declare the results of election 2016. I don't
want to believe that there is any aorta of truth in this reportage. Fortunately, he himself has come out to categorically deny making such explosive
comments. But it appears some people aren't convinced and still insist that he
indeed made those inflammatory comments including my good friend and brother,
Manasseh Azure Awuni of joy fm who proceeded to take him (Peter Mac Manu) and
the NPP to the cleaners.
I am proceeding on two legs. Assuming without admitting that Peter
Mac Manu is "guilty", then I doubt he is really committed to seeing an
NPP victory in this year's polls because such reprehensible conduct is
absolutely CONDEMNABLE and I expect him to do the honorable thing in the
interest of the NPP and Ghana at large. And no one should attempt justifying
this palpable fluff. Our politicians must learn to focus on the ISSUES if they really
want to convince Ghanaians to vote for them. Without the support of
"floating voters", there is absolutely NO way the NPP can win the
upcoming elections and such comments do not attract floating votes to the NPP at
all. In fact, they rather make the NPP unpopular before the discerning Ghanaian
voter. YES, the clamour for a regime change in Ghana is very loud BUT that is not
enough to guarantee an automatic win for the NPP.
If on the other hand, Peter Mac Manu was advertently misreported by
mischief makers for the purpose of creating public disaffection against him and
the NPP, then it is very UNFORTUNATE and I expect these mischief makers
including Manasseh Azure to spare our ears with their ugly noises. They are
rather the threat to our national peace and stability. I have for instance, heard
critics of Manasseh argue that he always tries to equalize in relation to the
apportionment of blames to NDC and NPP; such that, anything he criticizes
government (the NDC), he tries by all means, to get something negative to say
about the NPP in his forlorn attempt at equalization. I don't want to believe this
is one of such examples, which of course, would have only been a vindication of
his critics.
Manasseh must know that Ghanaians don't pay taxes to the NPP but
government. Ghanaians have not reposed confidence in the NPP to manage our
affairs but government. Ghanaians have not given unbridled authority and the entire
machinery of the State to the NPP but the NDC government. It is therefore
commonsensical to think that Ghanaians are more concerned about happenings in
government which directly affect our livelihood than happenings in a political
party in opposition. He should, in the light of this, redirect his pen and
energy to the more ESSENTIALS for God and country.
Whatever the case may be, we obviously, in the
final analysis, need to critically examine the said tape in order to clear all
doubts and bring closure to this matter once and for all. And if it is proven
that Manasseh Azure is only out to perpetuate mischief against Peter Mac Manu
and the NPP, then that makes him (Manasseh) a very disingenuous member of the
inky fraternity and one, inciting violence rather than the reverse which he
sought to communicate. Time will tell... I am however confident that my
homeland Ghana will forever live INSHA ALLAH.
