It is true that DEATH is INEVITABLE because every living soul on earth shall surely taste the agony of death one day. Our Holy Books give credence to this natural order and no man can run away from this indisputable reality.
Whilst I completely associate myself with the above statement, it is
also worth making the point that, the consequences of losing a loved one are
unbearable especially someone dear to you. I cannot describe my state of
devastation and distraught upon hearing the sad news of the demise of one of
Ghana's finest politicians and a proud son of the enviable Danquah-Dombo-Busia
tradition.
Jake, was undoubtedly, an ideal politician for this country because of
his softness, compassion, candor, calm disposition and manifest love for God
and country. I entreat all politicians to take a cue from these nationalistic
traits of Jake. It is not surprising that he successfully led the NPP to
victory in 2000 and 2004 General Elections as Campaign Manager.
More importantly, he was instrumental in the stupendous successes and
invaluable achievements of the erstwhile Kufuor government having held a number
of cabinet positions including Chief of Staff, Minister for Information,
Minister for Presidential Affairs, Minister for Tourism, Diasporan Relations
and Modernization of the Capital among others.
The death of this illustrious personality is therefore a debilitating
blow not only to his immediate family and the NPP, but also an
"irreplaceable loss" to Ghana, Africa and the World at large. The outpour of tribute in his honor from every nook and cranny is a
further testament of his legendary statute and astuteness for the love of God and country. With heavy heart, I
also join the rest of the World in extending my heartfelt condolences to all
the bereaved.
Every coin they say, has a silver lining and I pray that his immediate
family and the NPP see the silver lining that this coin brings as quick as
possible.
May the gentle soul of Chairman Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey rest in
perfect peace and in the bosom of the Almighty.
Damerefa Due!
Thank you.
