Birthdays are undoubtedly, special milestones
in one's life. The specialty of such milestones becomes even more indescribable
when we are talking about a life well lived. A life, that has positively
impacted on many other lives. A life, that is symptomatic of grace, bountiful
blessings, hard work, success and comfort for all. A life, that is of envy to
all. And more importantly, a life, that will be told generations upon
generations perhaps till the end of time.
YES, I'm talking about the life of none other, but His Excellency
Paa-Quecy Adu, the President of NUGS. So, I am humbly pleased to join the rest
of Ghana, Africa and the World to celebrate the life of this legend and an
illustrious son of an Asante man and an Ewe woman (President Rawlings and his
lovely wife come to mind). PaaQuecy is someone, whose name will forever remain
in our history books as having defied all odds to make POSSIBLE, the seemingly
impossible. He is the only man in our 50-year history, who has headed at least
three Student Unions as National President including TTAG, GUPS and the
ultimate, NUGS. What again hasn't he achieved as far as the enterprise of
student struggle is concerned?
In fact, there cannot be an objective rendition of the history of
student activism in Ghana and Africa without the countless mention of the name,
Paa-Quecy Adu. I dare say, to disagree with this asseveration is tantamount to
being, either disingenuous or maybe jealous. No matter our occasional
disagreements, we all have to celebrate our heroes and for that matter the
DESERVING; which is a philosophical underpinning of society and indeed, our own
National Students Awards (NSA-Gh).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY H.E Paa-Quecy Adu. I wish you the very best in all your
endeavors especially as you continue to fight and protect the interest and
welfare of the students of Ghana. Allah bless you. CHEERS
Your good friend and brother in the struggle for a better student front
and for God and country.
