Samira Bawumia Jabs Mahama and NDC

 Iddi Muhayu-Deen Writes..

Hajia Samira, the wife of the NPP Running Mate, Alhaji Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia has yet again fired some salvos at His Excellency the President of the Republic and the NDC government over their appetite for corruption, looting of State funds, incompetence and mismanagement.

She threw these punches whilst addressing a mammoth crowd of NPP supporters at the OFFICIAL LAUNCH of the Greater Accra Regional Campaign of the party which was held this evening (Sunday, 30th October) at Tema.

Samira Bawumia took on the Mahama government for wasting millions of the taxpayers' money on rebranding some 116 MMT buses at the expense of the suffering masses. She also expressed grave lamentations at the government's defiant attitude and insatiable notoriety for 'rebranding'.

You misappropriated our money to rebrand buses with your images, and when we complained, you called our bluffs and vowed to do even more. You then proceeded to use our money to rebrand the whole of Ghana with your giant billboards and campaign posters. Every nook and cranny of this country has been rebranded with John Mahama's campaign billboards and NDC Parliamentary Candidates for the various Constituencies.

Well, President Mahama wants every Ghanaian to see him everywhere, hence his decision to mount those giant billboards which are very expensive. Okay, we want to tell him that YES we see those billboards, but we also see CORRUPTION. We see those billboards, but we also see INCOMPETENCE. We see those billboards, but we also see SUFFERING. We see those billboards, but we also see MISMANAGEMENT.... Samira Bawumia added.

This is the second time in a month that the wife of Alhaji Dr. Bawumia is taking on President Mahama and the government in similar fashion for subjecting Ghanaians to the prevailing untold hardships and economic servitude.

It would be recalled that at the launch of the NPP manifesto, Hajia Samira unleashed similar heavy punches at the government for failing to provide a basic amenity like potable water to some deprived communities compelling the residents of such communities to share the same source of water with animals like goats, sheep and cattle.

President Mahama did not take this criticism lightly at all and recently felt compelled to reply the wife of Dr. Bawumia accusing her of being an uninformed woman who does not understand the technicalities involved in governance including the provision of social amenities like water to communities. Hajia Samaria has since replied him anyway.

Clearly, one can authoritatively extrapolate that if the NDC and President Mahama think that Alhaji Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia is a hard nut for them to crack, then they haven't seen much yet. They obviously have another headache to contend with and that is the wife of the economic prophet of our time, Alhaji Dr Mahmoud Bawumia, in the person of Hajia Samira Bawumia.

What a family the Bawumias have been blessed with!

THE ECONOMIC AND ORGANIZED CRIME OFFICE (EOCO) MUST GET SERIOUS – ENOUGH OF THE LEGENDARY LAWLESSNESS AND THE ACCOMPANYING IMPUNITY

THE ECONOMIC AND ORGANIZED CRIME OFFICE (EOCO) MUST GET SERIOUS – ENOUGH OF THE LEGENDARY LAWLESSNESS AND THE ACCOMPANYING IMPUNITY
IDDI MUHAYU-DEEN'S FOLDER
There is no denying the fact that increasingly, some of our State Institutions especially the security agencies are regrettably losing their focus and this, concerns me a lot. Indeed, now more than ever, public confidence in these institutions is at all-time low. And to think that these are institutions that were setup primarily, to enforce the laws of our country and ensure absolute compliance to our legal regime, makes the narrative even more disconcerting. This is because these security agencies are themselves, the number one lawbreakers.
As a matter of fact, anytime their names are mentioned, then you can be rest assured that it is for all the bad reasons. They are either engaged in acts of lawlessness or disdainful regard for due process or flagrant violations of people’s fundamental rights and the likes. These security agencies have lost their relevance because they have allowed themselves to be used by the governing Political Elites to pursue purely partisan agenda and political vendetta against opposition elements.

The government of the day thus, uses these otherwise fine security capos or “professionals” to unlawfully harass, victimize, intimidate, gag and persecute its ardent critics and political opponents with the view to cowing all and sundry into submission. You dare not call the bluff of the “big men” in government irrespective of the legitimacy of your issues against this ruling class so called. And we are supposed to be a democratic nation? How paradoxical!
They don't respect our fundamental Rights, they don't respect our Laws, they don't respect our Constitution, they don't respect our Courts, they have become a law onto themselves and only do what pleases them. They determine what is lawful in this country and not what the Constitution or our Court says. All they care, is instruction/order from "oga at the top", otherwise known as the POLITICIAN.
It would be recalled that recently, one man by name Baba Kamara used the BNI to settle personal issues he had with his next-door neighbor in a purely civil matter by ordering the BNI to arrest the gentleman and denies him access to counsel. How unfathomable! The story is not any different when you talk about the police CID, National Security and EOCO. The value is always the same. Such a shame!
We have all heard in the news that in the early part of this week, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in this country; who also doubles as a politician in the person of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom was invited by EOCO to explain how his party (the PPP) was able to raise money to pay for his Filing Fees as a Presidential Candidate and that of their parliamentary candidates in a number of Constituencies.
In their desperate attempt to justify the actions of EOCO, I have heard some government communicators contend that EOCO is acting based on rumours that suggest that he (Ndoum) may have used the deposits of the customers of “his bank”, the GN Bank to pursue his political interest. How repugnantly nauseating! Meanwhile, they won’t provide any modicum of evidence to back their claims. These government communicators do not care about the collateral damage that this absurdity they are championing may have on the good image of this indigenous Bank of ours.
Yet, this is a government that claims to believe in creating an enabling environment for local businesses to grow. Obviously, this cliché, under the circumstances, has fallen absolutely flat on their faces and has only proven to be a mere lip service. It is not surprising that they are lampooning Nana Akufo Addo of the NPP for drinking kalypo, another made in Ghana product. Again, this is the only government that has also introduced several NUISANCE TAXES which are suffocating the Ghanaian business man.
Now back to the Ndoum’s story, we all know that among the Presidential Hopefuls, Dr. Papa Kwesi Ndoum is the richest. He owns not less than 75 successful business enterprises including Banks world over, non-bank Financial Institutions, Football Clubs, Radio Stations, Tv Stations, Newspaper, Hotels, Schools, Entertainment Centres, Insurance Companies, a Brokerage, Construction Companies and several Industries.
Notwithstanding all of these, EOCO, which is an organ of the A-G’s department and Ministry of Justice is telling us that Ndoum couldn’t have raised the necessary funds to pay for his Filing Fees. However, ‘jokers’ like Akua Donko, Ayaricough, Apalloo, Odike and co, whose business is essentially, to act as “political fools” in pursuit of the political interest of some people and get paid with our taxes, could raise such an amount of money. I think we are getting crazy in this country.
It is pretty obvious that the only reason why Ndoum is being persecuted is because some people see him as one of the threats to their political ambitions hence the need to embarrass him in order to make him lose credibility before Ghanaians. If EOCO is really a serious organization that is minded to act professionally at all-time, then it is not Ndoum they should be investigating but rather these ‘political jokers’ as well as the NDC leadership. This is a political party [NDC] that recently whiles in opposition, couldn’t find money to pay the electricity bills for its national headquarters, couldn’t pay its auditors and couldn’t discharge some of its financial obligations.
However, upon winning elections and forming government, the party has become synonymous to profligacy, ostentation and flamboyance in all its dealings. They can now afford a $20 million ultramodern office complex at the centre of Accra, Adabraka. Another reason why the NDC ought to have been the party to be investigated by EOCO is because the party has consistently been indicted by the Ghana Integrity Initiative for using State funds to finance their political campaigns and engaging in blatant abuse of incumbency. This, EOCO, the so called independent state institution is not interested in investigating. Professionals indeed!
They are rather interested in investigating how Ndoum made his money even though there exists more than enough evidence to vindicate this successful entrepreneur of our time. Such a pity! Like I always maintained, in Ghana, once you are associated with the government of the day, you are untouchable (montie 3 and co on my mind). Almost every state institution has been compromised by the politicians. Very shameful to say the least. Until our professionals begin to act as professionals, I’m afraid we shall continue to wallow in this counterproductive regime. Well, I pray they do for the love of country…
Assalamu alaikum

A NIGHT OF SHAME FOR TV 3 GHANA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL (2016) CONTEST - THE CASE OF A “STOLEN CROWN”

24th October, 2016

IDDI MUHAYU-DEEN WRITES…

Monumental disappointment, shock, incomprehension and befuddlement were the clear writings on the faces of the thousands of patrons that stormed the Accra International Conference Centre last night to witness the GRAND FINALE of the 2016 edition of TV3 Ghana’s Most Beautiful. I’m sure same was experienced by viewers at home because the programme was carried live on TV3. What was meant to be the CLIMAX of an otherwise award winning entertaining and educative enterprise (GMB), astonishingly, ended up becoming the ANTICLIMAX of the whole caboodle and this, I say without any shred of equivocation.

Indeed, this is the only INEVITABLE CONCLUSION that every discerning mind would arrive at upon following the trend of events in respect of this year’s contest. This confusion and brouhaha follows the bombshell of an announcement by the judges to the effect that YABA, the Western Regional Representative is the ULTIMATE WINNER and for that matter the 2016 Beauty Queen. The overwhelming verdict, which was overtly manifest is that this lady (YABA) was NOT even deserving to be among the top 3; let alone, to run away with the coveted crown. As a matter of fact, the kind of reception that greeted this announcement speaks volume to the infamy of judges’ decision.

I have, for the past 3 years, attended the grand finales of GMB at the conference centre and thus, physically witnessed the kind of mounting-moving and electrifying ambience that is often generated at the conference centre when such mega announcements are made. What happened yesterday however, is a complete departure from this convention as over 90% of the audience were in unenviable state of shock, bewilderment and agitation. I personally spoke with some of the 2016 contestants and previous ones, all of whom expressed similar disbelief at this anomaly.

I am particularly disappointed that this happened in GMB, which to many, is the finest and most credible pageant show in the country until yesterday’s anticlimax, which coincidentally happens to be the 10th anniversary. Well, I am not an ardent follower of pageantry and showbiz in general except GMB and the shameful spectacle I witnessed last night at the GMB finals is only going to reinforce my nonchalance for the industry. Indeed, I am now, more than ever, convinced that the animal called CORRUPTION is not only a governance issue, but a deleterious social canker which has permeated every facet of our national life and has eroded our moral fibre.

So what are the relevant facts regarding the contentious 2016 GMB? Out of the 5 finalists, 3 were consistently outstanding throughout the 13 weeks. They include, BADU of A/R, AKOS of E/R, and HIBA of N/R and this is evidenced in the fact that these trio have justifiably swept almost all the ‘STAR PERFORMER’ Award especially BADU and AKOS. In fact, BADU, who also happened to be my favourite, came first in terms of performance on the last day. So, under the circumstances, everybody expected one of these 3 ladies to emerge as the eventual winner.

If the primary criterion is NOT about performance but votes, the trio never performed badly at all especially AKOS and HIBA, who consistently obtained the highest votes, at least per the VOTING CHART except if we are going to be told that the voting chart is merely cosmetic. Why should vote even be the primary consideration for selecting a GMB winner, if indeed that was the case? Is the GMB crown now for sale to the highest bidder? How incredulous!

From the foregoing, it required no gift of clairvoyance for one to know that YABA, the western regional rep was miles away from the CROWN. The only possible reasonable reason for her triumph is that, she was representing the western region, which is the only region, with the exception of B/A, that has never won the GMB contest until yesterday. This “ONE REGION, ONE CROWN” principle employed by the organizers of this otherwise enviable reality show (TV3 GMB), I find, highly PROBLEMATIC.

So it is no more anchored on the principle of MERITOCRACY but one of REGIONAL BALANCE, as if we are talking about a political party. How disappointing! I can, in the light of this, perfectly extrapolate that B/A, which is now the only stand-alone region without crown, would win next year’s contest to complete the absurdity. Well, BADU, AKOS and HIBA may not have won the favour of the judges, but they have surely won the HEARTS and MINDS of every follower of the 2016 GMB. They are our true BEAUTY QUEENS. TV3 GMB has undoubtedly, suffered a debilitating setback this year which is culminating in a significant erosion of its credibility.

I don’t know about you but as for me, I’ve TERMINATED my “contract” with GMB following that disappointing turn of events last night. Not only that, I would also launch a campaign against this Reality Show moving forward. I would discourage all my friends and associates from participating or investing their scarce resources and time into this “sham” until all the wrongs are RIGHTED. This is because as a progressive mind, I cannot be associated with an UNJUST enterprise and would not encourage anybody to embrace same.

Ghanaians certainly deserve better from TV 3.

Thank you.
