Gratitude,
they say, is the attitude that takes man to the ultimate altitude. Where
do I start from? You would have to forgive me for failing to say enough THANK
YOU that commensurates with the kind of love and care you showed me yesterday
(Monday, August 8) which was arguably, the most important date in my life. The
love and care was so superlative that, having perused the queen’s lexicon, I
couldn’t get the right and meritorious words to express how much gratitude I
owe you for such award winning camaraderie. To say, I was overwhelmed by same,
can only be an understatement. Throughout my twenty something years of living,
I never felt that loved and adored and this, I say, without any aorta of
cynicism. In fact, if I ever thought that my life, albeit still “young”, hasn’t
been a blessing to the World, then I dare say that, you gave me more than
enough reasons to think otherwise. Simply put, it was a humbling experience for
me and I cannot thank you enough.
But of course
my first gratitude goes to Almighty Allah for His bountiful blessings and
favours. Then my mum, Mma Bilkis Gariba and dad, Alhaji Iddrisu Baba, both of
Kete-Krachi fame (my beautiful hometown in the V/R). I am also very thankful to
my grandiose family in the “political school” particularly, my MENTORS and the
rest of the family in the enviable enterprise of STUDENT LEADERSHIP for making
my day, WORTHWHILE. In fact, your countless calls, goodwill messages, that
flooded my inbox and indeed, every nook and cranny of social media which ended
up freezing my phone (obviously, it is about time I dropped that yam), the
spectacle of my picture as your dps, among others, would forever ring a resounding
bell of nostalgia in my memory.
As a fallible
being as every living soul, I definitely may have, overtly or covertly, wronged
some of you in the cause of our engagements BUT certainly, that couldn’t be
deliberate. I therefore wish to use this opportunity to humbly plead for your
forgiveness if you are one of such persons. After all, no man can live an
unblemished life and of course, to err, they say, is human. Again, as a
politically conscious person, who is so passionate and critical of developments
in my country, I am not unaware that some people, who think everything is rosy
and cozy in Ghana, dislike me. Well, I say to them that I’m sorry but I have
absolutely no regret for my actions, to the extent that same is in the pursuit
of the national interest for the love of God and country.
I shall
continue, to expose, with my pen and tongue, the rots in society especially in
our governance regime. Our country must work again and that remains my
preoccupation. In fact, I haven’t actually started yet. We should all remember
that, silence is not an option when things are ill-done because that then
becomes the source of evil in society. Finally, I pray that Almighty Allah
continue to bless this country with peaceful ambience as we buildup to the
crucial general elections in December and the aftermath of same.
Once again,
thank you very much for your love and care. Indeed, I am, because you are….
Assalamu
alaikum
Yours in the
struggle for God and country,
